3-4 PM Parking Hour

I love delivering to downtown core buildings during this hour. In my experience all of the traffic cops are on break. They start directing traffic at 4:00PM for the afternoon rush. You can get away with parking murder during this hour. Taxi stand, no parking zones, expired meters, and bus stops are all fair game. Stay tuned for my compressive Downtown Minneapolis Parking Guide.

Charging From Above

At first when I saw this I was like, what? No, Really? Let me break it down. This person who lives in a second floor unit at 601 s. 9th st. ran an extension cord out their condo window into a tree over a sidewalk to a car that was parked at a meter on the street. While this may seem like a bit of ingenuity the real challenge must have been getting the car with a dead battery into a spot within extension cord reach of their condo.

I applaud this individual’s effort but I have to wonder if a $42 dollar battery from fleet farm wouldn’t have been a lot easier. These pictures were shot when it was -2 degrees Fahrenheit, welcome to urban arctic winter.

Stolen Packages

This sign was on a mailbox at one of the townhouse’s that are part of the Grant Park Development (500 E Grant.) I find it sort humorous that these townhouse’s cost aprroxometly half million dollars each and yet the elliot park neighborhood is so bad you can’t have FedEx drop off a package while you aren’t home.

That being said the elliot park neighborhood is so much nicer than it used to be. All it needs now is more retail, more restaurants (Otho is a start) a Walgreen’s and less poor people and drug dealers.

Calhoun Beach Club Elevators

This is a picture of the elevators in the Calhoun Beach Club Apartments (2900 Thomas ave.) Do you notice what is wrong with it? At first glance it looks although it is an express elevation serving the parking ramp and floors 15-24. It’s not. To give the illusion that the residents are living in a high rise building the management added the number 10 to the actual floor number. So floor 5 becomes 15 and so on. If you live here I hope your $999(Studio) - $6,600 (4 Br Penthouse) is worth it. On the plus side you’ll be surprised on how fast you can go from the lobby to the 24th floor.

801 Washington ave. n.

This is one of my favorite condo conversions in the city. The common areas are so lofty and filled with interesting art and sculptures. Many of the entrances to the units are over interior sky bridges.

This Meter - This Car!

There is an epidemic of bad and selfish parking going on at meters in this city. The boundary of you’re parking spot is always the meter pole. There is an arrow on every meter pointing to the corresponding parking spot. If you cross the meter pole when you parking you’re messing up parking for someone else. Stop being ignorant selfish motorists. I wish traffic enforcement would ticket more people for doing this.

Support Our Troops… Stop The Gas Pumps!

These pictures were shot at a gas station. So much irony in such a small space.

Butts

This tray of cigarette butts was by the entrance to a house on W. 28th st.  in Uptown. It was so nasty. At least they’re not on the ground.

Gentrification Pains in Stevens Square

This is a for sale sign near a condo building at E 19th st. and Stevens ave. Simple graffiti or gentrification pains? There is no snow on the ground because the picture was shot about a month ago.

Stop… Hamertime

I thought this sign was funny. It was on the door of a duplex on w. 26th st. in Uptown.
